Abstract :

Large-format metal 3D printing and hybrid additive manufacturing are transforming industrial production by enabling complex, high-performance components with greater design flexibility and reduced material waste. This presentation explores advanced metal deposition technologies, including Laser Directed Energy Deposition (LDED), wire- and powder-based processes, and hybrid systems integrating additive manufacturing with CNC machining. These approaches support the production, repair, and refurbishment of large components while improving manufacturing efficiency and reducing lead times. Applications across aerospace, defence, automotive, energy, and heavy engineering will be discussed, highlighting opportunities for indigenous technology development, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and industrial competitiveness in India.
