Kumarswamy Hosmath

Kumarswamy Hosmath leads iTek Media, a Bengaluru company that makes real places explorable in 3D. The team turns buildings, sites and heritage monuments into virtual tours, photoreal Gaussian splats, Scan to BIM models and AR experiences, and supplies XGRIDS scanners across India. Its heritage work includes the Kailasa Temple at Ellora and Bhoga Nandeeshwara at Nandi Hills, preserved as photoreal twins anyone can explore in a browser. iTek Media contributed to Hombale Films' Kantara: Chapter 1. Kumarswamy's mission is simple: to help build the digital twin of India, one scan at a time. 

Topic and Content of the presentation - 

Heritage documentation has long meant point clouds and photogrammetry — accurate, but rarely faithful to how a place looks. 3D Gaussian splatting changes this, reconstructing scenes with the light, colour and depth the eye sees, viewable in real time. This session presents splatting as a practical route to heritage digital twins, and the XGRIDS Lixel scanner as the tool that makes it repeatable: SLAM-based LiDAR for geometry, captured in a single walk-through. Scenes from Ajanta, Ellora and Bhoga Nandeeshwara, from a library of 161 captures, show what survives the process — carved detail, worn stone, atmosphere — and why that matters for conservation.
